"I strongly believe that in order to promote lifelong language learners, students should be placed at the centre of their learning and be given opportunities to use the language being learned authentically.“
I have been teaching French as a Second Language for seven years in the elementary stream. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Focus Learning for just over one year. I graduated from the University of Toronto with both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education. My teaching qualifications include French as a Second Language from primary through to senior levels. I also obtained my Master’s of Education in 2019, with a focus on Language and Literacy. As the majority of my teaching has taken place within an French Immersion environment, I have come to understand the importance of creating safe and authentic spaces for language learning. I therefore strive to create positive environments with learning opportunities centered around the interests of the students in front of me. In addition to learning with and from students, my hobbies include spending time with family and friends, hiking, reading and, since Covid-19, solving puzzles. While my friends and family members call me a “nerd” I consider myself to be a lifelong learner, as I’m always seeking opportunities to grow both professionally and personally.
